These are the Springsteen songs Blogness readers are thankful for

As I write this, Thanksgiving weekend is winding down, and we're all overstuffed and exhausted as we contemplate the work week ahead. If that's too much consider at this particular juncture, maybe you should instead sit back and listen to this, a playlist of Springsteen songs Blogness readers are most thankful for.

You'll recall that on Thanksgiving we asked everyone what Bruce song is on the top of the list of ones for which you're most grateful:

(And yes, we are on Bluesky — you should follow us there!)

Readers responded with the songs that meant to most to them as they counted their blessings this Thanksgiving, resulting in the 20-track playlist below. It's heavy on early songs — of Springsteen's first eight albums, only "Nebraska" is not represented — with "The Rising" and "Magic"albums turning up for his later output.

It's probably not surprising that these are some of Bruce's most contemplative songs — not much in the way of all-out rockers on the list. But if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say they're all songs that have helped us come to terms with who we are, who we want to be, and what we need to make our way in this crazy world. Or maybe they're just great.

Enjoy!
